About me:

While in law school at Queen's University, I developed my passion for criminal law while assisting federal prison inmates with parole hearings, and also volunteering for Queen's Legal Aid.

After graduating, I articled for Alan D. Gold, a well-respected criminal lawyer in Toronto. Working long hours under his mentorship gave me the skills I needed to assert my clients' rights.

I then worked for a time in Kingston, Ontario, for a small criminal defence firm. While there, I ran trials and developed my courtroom skills. Since 2014 I've been practising on my own in Kitchener.

Services:

PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME

I have been practising criminal law for over 10 years, representing clients primarily in Kitchener and Guelph.

Criminal law is all I do. It is all I have ever done. I am pleased to also offer my services in French and Spanish.

At this time, I keep a small caseload of private files as defence counsel in Southwestern Ontario, in addition to doing part-time work as a Crown Prosecutor in Toronto. I find this mix of work to be interesting, and I believe it makes me a better lawyer regardless of 'which side' I am advocating for in any given case.

In order to avoid any conflict of interest, please note that I do not take on cases as defence counsel in Toronto, other than appeals before the Ontario Court of Appeal.

What can you expect?

I make a point of always being accessible to my clients, and my fees are straightforward. Being charged with an offence can be very stressful and the system can seem confusing. If you choose to retain me, I will help you navigate the system and assert your rights.

Types of Cases:

I run a focused practice and I now only take on cases for certain offences. Broadly speaking, I accept more serious matters in which the Crown is proceeding by indictment.

At any given time, as part of my commitment to access to justice, I assist some clients who are funded by Legal Aid Ontario. Unfortunately, at this time I am not accepting new clients on Legal Aid Certificates.
